From
the Commodore -- APRIL/MAY 2008
Hello to all from your Commodore and board . . .
Well I’ve spoken with both Port Superior and Pikes Bay Marina
and as of this writing it looks like Port Superior will begin their boat
launch as scheduled on April 28th. Pikes Bay Marina is currently
scheduled to begin on May 5th. Times can always change, so if you
have questions about the date for your boat, confirm the launch time
with either Port Superior or Pikes Bay. But for sure - it won’t
be long before we can start enjoying the new season at “The Big
Lake”.
Current news for PCKC includes the following:
In May, I’ll be putting up an information board in the lower level
of the clubhouse to showcase info on PCKC. It will be another way
to keep you all informed of events during the summer. Watch for
the board and check it throughout the summer for current news.

This is the first of our two launch

The first annual PCKC Golf Tournament! This will be a 9-hole
scramble event (two person teams) with a dinner after the tournament
provided by PCKC. Just so you know, we use the term "tournament" loosely
-- so all levels of players are encouraged to join in! Look
for sign up forms on the new PCKC info board posted in the lower
level of the clubhouse. |

| JULY 19th |
We'll be hosting a day cruise

the time comes! |

|
| AUG 9th |
We're planning a flottila cruise
to Silver Bay Marina on the North
shore with an overnight there and a dinner at a great local restaurant
in town. The return trip would be on your own schedule.
** This
date is not confirmed yet, so if you have any feedback let me know** |

| SEPT |
We're looking at the possibility of a party
at the marina, but
plans are still in the works. |
Race Week Events
For those of you interested in racing, there are a couple other events
you may want to keep in mind this summer. Sailfest is
a family friendly, cruiser oriented one day race, with social events
scheduled after the race. It is scheduled for July 4-5, 2008. For
more information, contact Thom Burns at thom@sailingbreezes.com.
Also, in addition to the regular RaceWeek events, check out the info
on a “Cruising Class” event, June 30 through
July 4th. The cruiser class is for those sailors who perhaps haven’t
tried racing before or don’t feel they could compete with the “racing” boats. If
you have an interest, contact any of the websites listed in the Announcment.
Lots of “doings” this summer. We hope you can join
us! And of course, if any of you feel inclined to help organize
any of these events, we won’t turn you away!! Keep checking the
website at www.pckc.org for updates and if you have any questions/concerns/ideas
contact me at commodore@pckc.org.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Your Commodore,
Chris Rine
