Hi to everyone from your new PCKC Commodore and Board - - -

Well the 2007 boating season is done and we’re already looking forward to 2008!  Just last night I was looking out at the beautiful full moon and wishing I was seeing it from the deck of our boat, shining down on Lake Superior!

In case you missed our annual meeting in October --  a new board was elected

Commodore -  Chris Rine
Vice Commodore  -  Al Frisch
Treasurer-  Jim Beran
Secretary-  Bernice Nixon

I’m looking forward to acting as commodore and have been busy getting organized with the other board members.  We are working on activities for the upcoming season as well as dealing with the more mundane activities, such as updating our member list.

As members, you’ve asked in the past for better communication and I am making this a goal for this year.To that end, we will be getting the information out in several venues.  Each month I will be posting a notice from the commodore, with any new activities or information listed.  These notices will be posted on our website, www.pckc.org (under “from the commodore” and/or “newsletters“) and may also be e-mailed and/or snail mailed out to you.  The website will also be updated as things change -- with information and the activities listed --so check it often!

I am also hoping to create a display board which will be located in the PSMA clubhouse, specifically for PCKC information and activities.  All our planned activities would be posted there, as well as any possible spur of the moment get togethers.  This would give us all a way to keep in touch with PCKC events while we’re in the Bayfield area.

We are in the process of updating our member list and receiving yearly membership dues. You will be receiving a membership notice  --  please complete the form and send it in along with your dues.  Thanks for your attention to this matter.  We will also be mailing out PCKC membership cards.

Whew!  Now that we have the bookkeeping items taken care of, lets talk about the fun activities planned for 2008.

JULY, 2008

Saturday, July 5 Sailfest  PCKC

AUGUST, 2008  -  Possible flotilla crossing

Over the years, I have heard many people say they would like to do a crossing to the north shore of Superior, but are a little nervous to do it alone.  Among the members of PCKC,  I know we have years and years of sailing experience!  Whether you’ve made the crossing many times, or it would be a first for you, is interest in getting a group together to go over in a flotilla?

SEPTEMBER, 2008  -  Open to suggestions/ideas

OCTOBER, 2008  -  Annual meeting, Saturday October 4, 2008

I know this is some time into the future, but mark you calendars and plan to attend!

If any of you have any ideas about communication, activities, or any way you’d like to see the club improved, please contact me or any of the board members.  I’m excited to be serving as Commodore and I know all our board members feel the same way.  We hope to make this a great year for PCKC!

Don’t forget the Minneapolis Boat Show, January 23-27, 2008.  Maybe we’ll see lots of you there.

Have a great winter season and Merry Christmas to you all!  We hope to see you all at the Winter Party and then we’re looking forward to spring and getting those boats back in the water!

 Respectfully,

Chris Rine
