From the Commodore  -- September  2008

Hi to all  --  Our most recent event was the group crossing to Silver Bay Marina.  Five boats and 16 people made the trip and then had a great dinner at Northern Lights Roadhouse in Beaver Bay.  The trip over was a little rough! - with high winds (northeast!) and big waves.  Rumor has it that the most popular songs for the crossing that day were the Gilligan’s Island theme song and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald!  Thankfully, the Sunday return was smoother.   Actually, I heard only positive comments from the group about the marina at Silver Bay and the trip itself.   Looks like we’ll be making this an annual event!

Well, I hate to think about it, but the season is coming to an end.  It’s time to start thinking about haulout, our PCKC Annual Meeting and of course, Applefest, 2008!

PCKC ANNUAL MEETING

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, 0900 HRS

The meeting will be held Saturday, October 4th, 0900 hrs, upstairs in the clubhouse.  The agenda includes (but is not limited to!):

  1. Elections –
start thinking about whether you’d like to throw your name in the hat for any of our Board positions
    • commodore
    • vice commodore,
    • treasurer or
    • secretary.

I have enjoyed being commodore this year and will be happy to continue for another year, if elected by the group!
  2. Treasurer’s report
  3. Secretary’s report
  4. Beautifying the kitchen/meeting area at the Clubhouse.
Come with ideas/suggestions and think about whether we’d like to donate any money to PSMA to assist with improvements.
  5. PCKC Winter Party – we’ll be discussing when and where the party will be.
  6. Any other new business or old business to be discussed
  7. Collection of Annual Dues - $25.00 a year.
Our memberships run from Oct 1 to Sept 30 each year, so unless you have prepaid, your membership will expire on Sept 30, 2008. Please remember to bring your checkbook or cash so you can be up to date on your membership!

We hope to see a lot of you at the meeting and, of course, during the weekend enjoying all the Applefest activities.  And be sure not to miss the concert by Thunder Bay Pipes and Drums, at Port Superior Marina, Saturday, Oct 4, 10:00 am, right after our meeting.  They always put on a great show!

It’s been a great summer and it’s been a pleasure for me to meet and get better acquainted with many of our PCKC members.  I’d like to thank those who volunteered their time to help out and everyone who participated in our events and helped make them a success!

Your Commodore,

Chris Rine
